Allison is a vibrant wife and mom of three whose life was interrupted 15 months ago with what turned out to be Stage 4 Appendiceal cancer. Immediately, she threw herself into the standard oncological treatments including chemotherapy and immunotherapy, for this rare and little-known cancer. This fall, after many months of grueling chemo, Allison and Brian flew to Pittsburgh for a much-anticipated surgery with a revered surgeon (one of few in the country who treats appendicial cancer.) Sadly, the surgeon had to pull out of the procedure shortly after it was begun due to seeing extent of the disease.

We were all crushed for her as she returned home without the success everyone was hoping and praying for.

Allison, being the resolute warrior that she is, regrouped and resumed chemo. Eventually she hit major roadblocks from the side effects, including damage to her lungs, so she had to cease chemo. She continues immunotherapy, but is refocusing her cancer fight with functional medicine expert, Dr. Eric Acebedo, MD, whose expert training in Suisse Biological Medicine focuses on innovative functional cancer treatments.

This functional medicine path is largely not covered by insurance and will be financially burdensome for her family, but, naturally, Allison and her family want to pursue every path possible. This GoFundMe is intended to help Allison’s family with some of the financial burden of these treatments.
