Support Allison Hopkins' ALS Care Journey
Donation protected
Allison Hopkins was diagnosed with ALS two years ago. The disease has reduced Alli from a physically active woman -- one who loved to not only ski race, but bike, rock climb, dance, practice yoga, and play with her 8 grandchildren among other activities -- to a quadriplegic.
Charlie has not been able to work for over a year and a half years because he has been caring for Allison 24/7.
She is on a ventilator 24/7. Nearly every activity of daily living-- bathing, brushing teeth, dressing, toileting, even scratching an itch and turning in bed -- must be done for her. She has a feeding tube for supplemental nutrition and hydration, because her swallowing is weak.
ALS has taken so much, but her radiance and joy for life and nature still remains. Friends near and far continue to visit her and lift her spirits. As long as the weather isn’t too hot, Allison gets outside in their yard to enjoy nature. She is truly Charlie’s “Bad ass, babe”.
Caring for her 24/7, even with the weekday help they have had, is more than he can do alone. Charlie and Allison have hired live-in help. The cost of this additional help alone will be over $16,000 per month. Her out-of-pocket care costs will now be almost $20,000 per month.
This GoFundMe page was set up to assist Allison and Charlie with the financial burdens they are facing. Any contribution would be greatly appreciated, and even if you aren’t able to donate to it, please keep them in your prayers.
Thank you.
