My name is Lori Wolf and I am starting a GoFundMe for my niece Allison Eastman .

Allison is 31 years old and had life altering surgery back in September and she's been struggling ever since.

Allison was born with neurofibromatosis or NF 1

NF 1 causes tumors of the spine brain stem and nerve endings. Other issues associated with NF are learning disabilities and seizures. Allison has had surgeries for tumors in the past and has recently started having debilitating seizures with no relief from meds.

Due to these seizures, Al had an MRI. The results were shocking. She has 2 large tumors crushing her cervical spine. The doctors felt they needed to be removed to avoid paralysis and possibly death. This surgery unfortunately was not an answer to her seizures and those continue to be debilitating.

Allison had the surgery with the hope that she would be in the hospital only a night or 2 and then a quick recovery but the tumors were more involved with the spine than they thought and they had to cut into the dera of her spine in order to remove the tumors. This was much more invasive and serious than anyone expected. Allison ended up in ICU for 4 days followed by the special care unit and then a couple of weeks at an intensive rehab. Since the surgery she has been very weak and had to learn to walk again depending on a wheelchair to get around. She is in constant pain and has lost some use of her left arm. The nerve pain and paralysis has been torturous and terrifying. Allison does not know what her future will be. She does know that her recovery will be challenging and long. Al has always been a hard worker and was working full-time as a personal care aide when all of this happened. Since she's lost her ability to work her expenses have piled up and the process for disability is painfully slow. She has hit financial rock bottom and needs help. Allison is always the first person to donate to a cause and would do anything for anyone to help. I'm starting this go fund me to now help her. To help her catch up on her bills, buy food and buy gas cards so that she can get rides to therapy, appointments and recreational activities like hockey. Hockey has been her life line through this journey and has been an integral part of her recovery. Her hockey team and hockey family have already made such a difference in her mental health. I'm so grateful for everyone who has been there for Al.

At this time during the holiday season is the toughest and saddest time to have absolutely nothing. I pray that this GoFundMe will give Allison the boost she needs to make ends meet, decrease her stress and bring some joy to her life. Al would never ask for anything on her own so I'm asking for her. Please help her get through this.
