Support Alix in her Battle Against Cancer

Our dear friend Alix has been courageously fighting metastatic breast cancer for the past four years. Through every heartbreaking diagnosis, every treatment, and every tough day, she has faced this battle with incredible strength, resilience, and, of course, her never-ending sense of humour.

In the fall of 2021, Alix was diagnosed with Stage 4 Estrogen Positive Breast Cancer. She did 8 rounds of dose dense chemotherapy from December 2021 - March 2022, and planned to undergo a double mastectomy. When they found out the cancer had metastasized to her liver, the surgery was cancelled and she was placed on oral chemo for the next 18 months. Over the next 2.5 years, Alix fought every battle you can imagine - learning that the cancer had spread to her lung, her pelvic bone, undergoing a hysterectomy, clinical trials, more chemo, you name it.

In July last year, Alix started a new treatment called ENHERTU - a newly approved targeted cancer drug. It was intense, but it was working. However, in January this year, Alix fell ill with pneumonia and pneumonitis, which knocked her down until March, and effectively kicked her off the treatment that had been working so well. Since then, she has been clawing her way back - a clinical trial which made her violently ill; a new weekly chemo infusion; 5 rounds of radiation; and many, many visits to the ER.

This week, Alix received heartbreaking news - the cancer is growing. Again. This means more treatments, more doctor visits, and more time away from work. Due to the progression of her illness, Alix is unable to work. Her spouse (and incredible caregiver), Rory, has also had to take time off work in order to provide the care and support that she needs during this time.
