On Sunday, April 6th, Alivia, the kind, beautiful, smart, talented, selfless, theatrical, funny little 13 year old girl was brought to the ER for worsening shortness of breath, presumed to be a lingering respiratory infection. Imaging showed a large tumor in her mediastinum with a critical airway requiring transfer to the children’s hospital for a stay in the ICU. Further tests unfortunately gave us the heartbreaking news that the tumor is cancer, specifically Stage 4 T-Cell Lymphoblastic Lymphoma. She started chemo on April 8th and has since had three more inpatient hospitalizations from side effects, resulting in 24 nights away from home. We are so grateful that she has a good prognosis, however treatment will last 2.5 years, so this is just the beginning. Alivia has been so brave and is handling everything with so much poise, strength, and resilience. It has been a whirlwind of emotions, but are beyond grateful for the amazing team she has supporting her while she fights this fight #LivStrong
