I'm Alisson Gothz, a multi anti-disciplinary visual artist, cosplayer, drag performer, cat lover and spooky creature. I’m trying to make a longtime dream come true: attending my very first San Diego Comic-Con, along with two other incredible California conventions, GalaxyCon San Jose and Midsummer Scream, all between July and August 2026.
I’ve wanted to experience San Diego Comic-Con for years. This will be my first time attending, and I’m equal parts excited and terrified. I have no idea what to expect, but I know it’s going to be an unforgettable adventure!
At GalaxyCon, I’ll have the chance to meet the legendary Cassandra Peterson (Elvira) again for a photo-op and conversation. I’m planning a costume that is deeply connected to someone who meant a great deal to her, and I hope it creates a genuinely meaningful moment.
Then comes Midsummer Scream, one of the largest horror and Halloween conventions in the United States. I attended it for the first time last year, but mostly as an observer (no costume!). This year? I plan to show up in full costume and cause at least a small amount of spooky chaos.
I’ve set a modest fundraising goal of $300 to help cover costume materials, food, fuel, parking, and other small expenses while I travel from San Francisco to these events in my trusty little car.
Expect costumes, photos, behind-the-scenes videos, questionable decisions, and enough spooky content to keep us all entertained.
The Costumes
San Diego Comic-Con
I can't reveal too much yet, but my main costume will be a mash-up between a beloved Disney character and a horror icon.
It's ridiculous. It might confuse people. It might delight them.
In other words, it's exactly my kind of project.
GalaxyCon San Jose
For GalaxyCon, I'll be revamping and upgrading my Jambi the Genie costume from Pee-wee's Playhouse.
What makes this especially meaningful is that John Paragon, who played Jambi, was one of Elvira's closest friends. So close that she was the keeper of his ashes until they were laid to rest at Hollywood Forever Cemetery in 2022.
My hope is that seeing Jambi again, even in this small tribute, brings back some warm memories and creates a touching moment.
Midsummer Scream
This year's theme is Horror Musicals, which is basically an invitation for me to be as ridiculous as possible.
My costume will be a mash-up between The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Skeletor (He-Man’s evil and extremely funny archenemy).
I'm calling it Skeletor Horror Show.
Will it be glamorous? Questionable.
Will it be camp? Absolutely.
Will it make sense? Not really.
But if you've followed me for any length of time, you already know that's never stopped me before.
Creating characters, makeup looks, costumes, and immersive visual worlds has been a huge part of my creative life for as long as I can remember. Whether through photography, performance, art, or cosplay, I love transforming ideas into something people can experience, laugh at, photograph, and remember.
If you've enjoyed my art, costumes, photos, makeup, DJ sets, weird ideas, or general goth nonsense over the years, this is a chance to help bring some new creations to life.
Any amount helps. Even a few dollars, or simply sharing this fundraiser, would mean the world to me.
And just as a clarification: I’m doing all this as my drag persona, Alisson Gothz, not as a Sister.
Thank you for reading, for cheering me on, and for helping me turn this birthday wish into reality.
