Hello, my name is Alissa Johnson. Just a little over a week ago, I had an upper respiratory infection. Still working as a nurse, I went in to work as normal and then suddenly felt like my gait was unstable. I then thought to myself that I was just tired from shift work. The next day, I started feeling like my legs, feet, hands, and fingers felt numb and tingling, like pins and needles were steadily poking me non-stop. I also realized I couldn’t dress myself and walk without holding on to something to hold me up. The next day, I tried to get out of bed and fell down. I immediately went to the hospital, and they admitted me and ran several tests (MRI, CT Scan, Spinal Tap). I found out I was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré Syndrome, which was triggered from recently getting the flu vaccine.
So now I’m receiving Plasma Exchange and will need inpatient physical rehabilitation 5 days a week and 3 hours a day. So now I’m needing emergency help to pay for my medical care expenses and monthly bill expenses at home.
I’m thanking those that can help donate to help me in advance.
