My name is Alissa, and I never imagined I’d be in a position where I’d need to ask for help. On the very first day of school, a student jumped down on me at recess. It might sound unbelievable, but it left me with injuries to my neck, back, and shoulder. I tried to keep working for a few more weeks, but the pain became unbearable—one morning, I couldn’t even stand. My hours were cut, and eventually, I had to stop going in altogether.
Since then, I’ve been doing everything I can to get by. I’m looking for work every day, but with my injuries and the workman’s comp process dragging on until my court date in April, I’m not making any money right now. The bills keep coming—rent, groceries, utilities—and it’s been overwhelming trying to keep up while I heal and wait for answers.
You know I wouldn’t ask for help (as independent as I am) unless I truly needed it. If you’re able to support me, even a little, it would mean the world. I don’t know where else to turn, and I would so appreciate any help you can give. Thank you for reading my story and for being there during this difficult time.
