Alison’s Journey to Recovery
Alison has dedicated over 30 years of her life to supporting special needs students, focusing on one-on-one care for autistic children through the Atascadero Unified School District. She was just a month away from her early retirement when tragedy struck. Alison suffered a hemorrhagic stroke, followed by massive brain swelling, which required emergency surgery to remove a portion of her skull. Thanks to a good Samaritan who found her disoriented in a grocery store parking lot and called for help, Alison was rushed to the hospital in time to save her life.
Currently in the ICU, Alison remains stable but unresponsive, with the long-term effects of her condition still uncertain. While her neurosurgeon is optimistic about her regaining awareness, Alison faces a long road to recovery, including weeks in the hospital, months in rehabilitation, and ongoing therapies for speech, physical, and cognitive recovery.
Alison recently endured the heartbreaking loss of her husband of 40 years and her youngest son. Despite these challenges, she has remained a devoted mother, grandmother to five, and a pillar of support to her elderly mother. Alison also shares a strong Christian faith and is an active member of the Cambria Vineyard Church.
Although she has health insurance, the medical and rehabilitation expenses are overwhelming, especially as she does not qualify for full retirement benefits. We are asking for your help to ease this financial burden so Alison can focus entirely on her recovery without the weight of insurmountable debt. Every donation will go directly toward her medical bills, therapy, and continued care, ensuring Alison has the support she needs in this critical time.
Thank you for standing with Alison and helping her on this journey. Your generosity and prayers mean the world to her family.
P.S.
Heather (feather) here. Ive known Alison since before I was born! Sarah, Alisons daughter and I were born on the same day in the same hospital! We lived at each others houses, and I often referred to Alison as a second Mom. Alison would bring us to church every Sunday, she played a big part in my growing up. Thanks Alison!
