On December 14th, my niece Alison Budhu went into the hospital with severe chest pains, back pains, headaches, couldn't breathe, and lost about 60 pounds. She spent a few days in the hospital running different tests, and a bone marrow biopsy confirmed what nobody expected: she had Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML). A type of blood cancer that affects the bone marrow, which causes the body to overly produce white blood cells.
Right now, doctors told Alison she needs to be on chemotherapy drugs for the rest of her life to help target the leukemia because CML is not curable but treatable. Our family came to the decision to make this page to help assist her as a young 25-year-old adult and mother of a 2-year-old. Her and her son have lost their home and car due to having to move from North Carolina back to New York. As she is not currently working due to her sickness, it's hard for her to take care of certain expenses for herself and her child.
Any donations, no matter how small, will help her navigate these challenging times to focus on her health and healing journey. If you can even offer a prayer for her and her family, that would also be amazing.
