Alison Day is one of my closest and dearest friends, and she needs help.

It took a lot of convincing for her to allow me to even create this page. Alison is the kind of
person who would never ask anyone for help—ever, but she needs every one of us to step in at
this time.

Back in November, Alison went to the hospital after experiencing breathing difficulties following
several weeks of not feeling well. What started as concern quickly turned into something much
more serious. Doctors discovered that she has liver disease, and in the weeks that followed, it
became clear that she would need a liver transplant.
After months of being in and out of the hospital for countless tests and procedures, and being
prescribed what feels like an alphabet of different medications, doctors discovered that her heart
is not strong enough to withstand the liver transplant surgery alone. Although she is able to hold
down a position with her job that is work from home at this time, during all of the hospital stays
and testing, Alison was not able to work, and following surgery, she will face a long road to
recovery with continued inability to work.

In order to replace her liver, doctors have determined that she will also need a heart transplant
at the same time. At this time, the doctors at Johns Hopkins are still determining the best path
forward, and Alison is waiting to be placed on the transplant lists. Once she is listed, the call for
surgery could come at any moment.

As you can imagine, this has been overwhelming in every possible way—physically, emotionally,
and financially. The road ahead will include ongoing medical care, transplant procedures,
recovery time, medications, and significant time away from work.
Any donation, no matter the amount, will go directly toward helping Alison with her medical
expenses that insurance will not cover, and supporting her through this incredibly difficult
journey. If you’re unable to give, sharing this page would mean just as much.
Thank you for taking the time to read Alison’s story and for keeping her in your thoughts and prayers.
