Alison Guerra, my sister-in-law, is currently in the hospital after suffering a stroke while already facing other serious health challenges. This sudden crisis has turned life upside down for Alison and our family. Once she is stable enough, Alison will need to go to rehabilitation, where she will work hard to relearn basic skills like feeding herself, walking, and dressing. When she returns home, she will need daily care and significant modifications to her living space, including a wheelchair ramp and other accessible features, to support her recovery. The mounting medical bills, ongoing rehabilitation costs, and daily living expenses are overwhelming, especially as my brother Pete has had to stop working to care for Alison. His leave is running out, and the financial strain is growing each day.
Alison has spent over 35 years as a middle school educator and counselor, dedicating her life to supporting students and families in our community. She is the kind of person who always steps up to help others, whether it’s her students, colleagues, or loved ones. Now, she and Pete need our support more than ever. Every contribution will go directly toward Alison’s medical care, rehabilitation, daily living needs, and the necessary changes to their home so she can recover safely and comfortably.
We are deeply grateful for any help you can provide, any contribution, big or small, will make a profound difference. Your support will make a real difference in Alison’s journey to recovery and help ease the burden on her and Pete during this incredibly difficult time.
