Hello, my name is Alishia Buhr. Over the past several years, I have faced an incredibly challenging journey with my health. After undergoing genetic testing in 2022, I learned that I am at risk for five different cancers. Since then, I have had 22 surgeries, including a hysterectomy in 2016 and, most recently, a double mastectomy with expanders on March 27, 2026. I will need another surgery in a few months, and I continue to have regular colonoscopies and screenings for pancreatic and skin cancer.

I have taken these steps to ensure I am here for my children and grandchildren, to witness their milestones and be present in their lives. However, the recovery process has been tough, and I am currently unable to work for at least eight weeks, with another four to six weeks off after my next surgery. My family is struggling to make ends meet, as I am unable to contribute financially right now. My husband and daughter are working hard, but with my absence, it has become difficult to cover basic expenses like water and electric bills, and to keep food on the table.

We would be so grateful for any support, whether through donations or meal trains. Every bit of help makes a difference and brings us closer to stability during this difficult time.
