Support Alisha’s Spinal Tumor Battle and Healing Journey

Hi everyone,

I am reaching out with deep compassion to ask for support for my dear friend, Alisha Hernandez. She is currently facing an incredibly difficult and challenging time.

Alisha is a loving wife to Victor Hernandez, and together they have built a beautiful life over the past 20 years. They are proud parents of three amazing children—Taylor, Sadie, and Colt—and share their home with three beloved pets, Sophie, Greycie, and their newest addition Pepe.

The Hernandez family has long been part of the Wenatchee, Washington community, and now they need our support more than ever.

Alisha’s Journey: Fighting a Spinal Tumor

In 2016, Alisha began experiencing a mysterious and painful decline in her health. What started as a widespread pain, neurological symptoms, daily migraines, and signs of autonomic dysfunction slowly progressed into a life-altering condition. Over the years, her symptoms worsened—impacting her ability to work, care for her family, and enjoy daily life.

By 2022, Alisha was experiencing near-daily esophageal pain, deep chest and back spasms, jaw and facial tension, and more. Despite multiple tests and scans, no clear cause was found. Tragically, a tumor that was present in her imaging at that time went unnoticed.

It wasn’t until February 2025, after a new round of MRI’s that doctors finally found the source: large IDEM (intradural extramedullary tumor) growing from the outer layer of her spinal cord at the T5-T6 level. The tumor is compressing her spinal cord, pressing on a nerve root, and extending into her chest cavity—where it’s pushing against her aorta and left lung.

Although believed to be benign, the tumor is in a critical location and requires immediate surgical removal. Without surgical intervention, Alisha faces certain paralysis and continued decline.

The Road Ahead

Alisha is scheduled for a high-risk, two part surgery on August 20,2025, at the University of Washington. The operation will last between 14 to 16 hours and involve two specialized surgical teams. She will be inpatient for a week.
  • Neurosurgeons will first remove portions of bone and then carefully extract the tumor from within the spinal cord and stabilize through fusion.
  • Next, thoracic surgeons will enter through her side to remove the remaining tumor from the chest cavity.
This is a major surgery with a long and uncertain recovery ahead. Alisha will be out of work for 12 weeks, and her husband Victor will also take time off to care for her and manage their household during this critical time.

How You Can Help

Alisha and Victor have already made countless trips to Seattle for consultations, imaging, and referrals. The emotional and financial strain has been immense. With surgery fast approaching, they are now facing a mountain of expenses—including travel, lodging, lost income, medical bills, and post-op recovery care.

We are asking for your support—any amount, big or small—to help this incredible family get through the hardest season of their lives. Your donation will directly support Alisha’s care and allow her family to focus on healing instead of hardship.

Despite everything she has endured, Alisha continues to face each day with incredible strength and resilience. Even in the midst of pain and uncertainty, she remains devoted to her family and does her best to stay positive, present, and hopeful. Her courage is nothing short of I inspiring. I am truly in awe of her strength.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your compassion and generosity. Please help us reach more people by sharing this GoFundMe with your friends, family, and your community.
