Hi, my name is Emilee and with my sister’s permission, she is letting me share her story. No one plans to start a Go Fund me account, myself included, but right now my sister needs help and support. Let me preface by saying anyone that has had the absolute pleasure to meet and spend time with Ali, you most certainly smiled, laughed and made a new friend for life. Alisen is truly the most glass half full person I have ever known. She’s always laughing, big belly laughs, usually with a lot of wheezing and tears of joy. She’s silly, quirky, dorky, and most of all, the best sister to myself, my older sister, Sara, and my baby sister, Madalyn!
Why would I start a donation account for her? Alisen was lucky to announce she became pregnant with her first baby earlier this year with her husband, Ben. During this happy time, we all found out she was having a BABY BOY! This became major family news for us, as we grew up as a family of 4 girls (5 if you include our dog and 6 with our mother!). Now I have 2 girls myself and my younger sister (Mady) had a baby girl earlier this year. So, Alisen will be having the FIRST boy of the family! With all this excitement and joy, we were horrified to hear about one of Ali’s recent doctor appointments.
Ali felt a lump on one of her breasts, in which she informed her OBGYN who ordered an ultrasound for piece of mind. She went to this appointment Friday, September 5, 2025 and was rushed for additional imaging/testing, including biopsy. Ali was informed during this visit that they were fairly certain she had cancer. She left that visit and waited all weekend to find out the true results, which confirmed, she had Stage 1b Breast Cancer with metastasis to 2 lymph nodes in her arm pit.
Alisen has already attended MANY doctor visits with oncology, surgery, radiation doctors, maternal fetal health, OBGYN, etc. She underwent a lumpectomy with removal of the four lymph nodes successfully on Monday, 9/29/2025. Later that week, her surgeon followed up with her and said she was “cancer free” as only 2 of the 4 lymph nodes removed were positive for cancer. However, the surgeon called back about 30 minutes later and informed Alisen that she was sorry, but had interpreted the pathology results incorrectly. Cancerous cells were found in a third lymph node and she would need to undergo an additional surgery as soon as possible (an axillary dissection, in which all lymph nodes from her arm pit need to be removed). With the spread of her cancer to additional lymph nodes, her cancer staging increased to Stage 2. She is now scheduled for her second surgery on 10/14/2025, again while she is pregnant.
Alisen has a long road ahead of her. Instead of her enjoying her first pregnancy and attending usual doctor visits, she now has pre-ops, post-ops, multiple surgeries, 8 chemo treatments and 6 weeks of planned radiation. Her chemotherapy is planned to occur during her pregnancy, which continues to apply additional anxiety and stress during one of the most magical times of her life. Alisen has ALWAYS wanted to be a mother. She truly has the kindest heart. She loves and cares for others unconditionally.
The goal of this Go Fund me is to help with her large deductible/out of pocket max with her insurance, which she will meet for both 2025 and 2026 due to the timing of her delivery and upcoming cancer treatments. I am hoping funds can help provide a meal for her, diapers, and stress relief to someone that means the world to me and my sisters. I want her to be able to experience as much happiness and joy during her first pregnancy.
Thank you for considering and/or donating to help my sister!
