Support Alina's Journey to Recovery

Alina is a 20 year old, third-year Exercise Science major on a Pre-Health track at the University of Iowa. She loves the outdoors and spent her last summer immersing herself in it while living in Yellowstone National Park for a few months. She’s a member of Zeta Tau Alpha and is a loved daughter and sister, as well as an adored friend to many. Alina is a spontaneous, outgoing person who’s always having fun and loving everyone around her, while creating lasting memories. She is full of life and has an infectious sense of humor, always ready with her well-timed jokes at every gathering.
However, at the beginning of October, Alina suffered from a sinus infection that traveled to her brain, causing bacterial meningitis and a stroke. This led to a lengthy hospital stay and has put her on a long road to recovery. After spending six weeks receiving medical care at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics, she is now at an inpatient rehabilitation center, working hard to gain back her ability to stand, walk, speak, and is rebuilding her strength. She has made remarkable progress already, however there is a substantial amount of work to be done ahead of her. Alina likes to quote her dad’s motto, “Bojniewicz’s never quit,” and this challenging time will be no exception. Although we know she’s a fighter, this situation has placed an additional burden on her family. Alina’s father passed unexpectedly in September, and her mom has not left her bedside since Alina’s hospitalization, trying to get the best care possible for her recovery. Their family has endured tremendous hardships this fall, and we would like to ease the financial burden from them as much as possible. Please consider donating to support Alina and her family as they navigate this difficult journey. Any contribution, big or small, will make a meaningful difference and is extremely appreciated!
