Hi! This pup's name is Alina. She is a 2-year-old Corgi × Aussie mix. I got her from a breeder in Louisiana who had her purely for breeding then wanted to get rid of her because she couldn't be used for breeding. When I got her at 6 months, she was a healthy and happy pup! Corgi meets, play dates, and being my ESA for medical conditions I developed in the Navy and ultimately my best friend.
By the time she hit a year old, she developed Dry Eye. I have linked the information on this but basically her eye cannot produce tears. This can lead to ulcers and blindness. This has been under medical treatment at Animal Eye Guy in Ft Lauderdale for over a year with no improvements.
Unfortunately, since the medications have not worked and she is still suffering we are left with surgery as our last option. I have two surgical options, the first being Parotid Duct Transposition (PDT). This is where they reroute a saliva gland to her eye. With this option, she would also continue her current medications. Unfortunately, the success rate for this surgery is only 60%. The other option we have is surgically removing her eye. While it absolutely breaks my heart to consider, she is still young so she would recover well and would have an overall better quality of life.
I am going to sell my motorcycle to help cover the costs of this surgery but any help would mean the world to us both. I have attached the estimate so you can see where I got the goal from. The cost depends on how long they need to keep her under anesthesia. Thank you again.
