Support Alina and Dulce's Gladiator Dream

Hello,

Our names are Alina Castro and Dulce Soto from Sonoma County. We were recently accepted into a mock trial competition named the Gladiator championship held in Decatur, Georgia, and are so excited to attend. However, we are not able to attend due to our insufficient funds. Unfortunately, our public high school has limited resources for scholastic competitions, and our mock trial team does not have money in the budget to fund our participation in Gladiator. This would be the first year that anyone from our high school has applied or been accepted to Gladiator, and it would mean a lot to us and the school to have the chance to compete. Additionally, we both are from Mexican immigrant backgrounds and it would be immensely beneficial for our academic careers to attend Gladiator. Personally, for our families, the championship’s cost is very expensive and we cannot afford to attend despite our dedication to public speaking and our acceptance. As first generation students, we come from families lacking college educations and who do not have lawyers to help guide us towards our goal. We hope to diversify the law field and act as leaders to our latino community by gaining higher educations, more advanced careers, and competing in the program with the help of financial aid.

We wanted to see if there was a way we could attend the championship with your help! Specifically, we are not able at this time to cover the competition’s fees of $1,700 dollars. Any amount would help tremendously.
