Alicia, a lifelong Jersey City resident, recently experienced a devastating apartment flood after a pipe burst in her building.
The flooding caused severe damage to her home, destroying most of her personal belongings, including essential items like furniture, clothing, and everyday necessities. Unfortunately, Alicia did not have renter’s insurance, and at this time, her landlord has not offered any assistance to help cover these losses.
Alicia has long been part of the Jersey City community, previously working in Park Patrol and with the Board of Education. Now, she and her husband, Marvin James, are trying to rebuild from scratch after losing so much so suddenly.
This has left them in an incredibly vulnerable position, facing both immediate material loss and ongoing health and financial challenges.
We are raising funds to help Alicia and Marvin replace basic necessities and regain stability. Donations will go directly toward:
- Clothing and personal items
- Furniture (including a proper bed)
- Household essentials
- Immediate recovery costs
No one should have to start over like this, especially not alone.
Any amount, no matter how small, will make a meaningful difference.
If you’re unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser helps more than you know.
Thank you for supporting Alicia and Marvin during this difficult time.
