Dear friends, family, and community,

I am reaching out to share the story of Alicia, a dedicated childrens’ librarian who has spent over 20 years fostering a love of reading in our young ones. Alicia has always gone above and beyond, creating engaging programs and nurturing a welcoming space for children and families in our community. She is an integral part of the Algonquin Library staff. She is a mentor and leader for many in the library field proving to be a role model of how to balance professional and family life, while excelling at both. Her husband Mike is beloved in his work community at District 47 and as Youth Director at St. Barnabas Church. Alicia and Mike are active members of St. Barnabas Lutheran Church, as well as parents to two busy teenagers. Together, they continue to make the world a better place by their selfless acts.

Recently, Alicia received the devastating diagnosis of Stage 4 colon cancer. This news has left us all heartbroken, as she has touched so many lives through her passion for books and storytelling.

As Alicia navigates this challenging journey, the financial burden of medical expenses has become overwhelming. We are setting up the GoFundMe to help alleviate some of these costs, allowing Alicia to focus on what matters most: spending precious time with her husband, Mike, and her two children, Meredith and Michael.

We are asking for your support with any amount you can give. Every dollar raised will go directly towards medical bills, treatment and other related expenses. Your generosity will make a significant difference in Alicia’s life and help ease the financial strain on her family.
