Update April 2026 :
Alicia underwent testing to ensure they were able to get all the tumor in October and her scans indicated the tumor grew in her brain again. They said that it has doubled in size and the surgeon’s plan is to cut it out if possible, but it is pressing on a vein which is a strong concern. They have her taking strong steroids and a few other medications to reduce the pressure
and the swelling that is putting pressure on the vein . If not, the physicians will likely have to go in with more chemo radiation and or immunotherapies. In this time of uncertainty, her family wants to be able to support her needs and spend quality time with her . This will require many appointments and many days that her family members will miss work which can create financial barriers . Please help Alicia in her fight and support her family in their time of need. Your support is appreciated and will assist with necessities for Alicia’s battle.
Update :
October 21, 2025
Alicia Manis has been battling cancer for over a year . She has undergone multiple treatments that has taken an emotional and mental toll on her livelihood. Alicia received unfortunate news that her cancer has moved to her brain and she is undergoing a gamma knife procedure on November 6th to target the tumor .
During this process, Alicia has remained positive although she has faced many obstacles regarding her housing and transportation . Alicia wants to be with her family in this time of uncertainty but needs financial support so her husband can be by her side . He is the only person able to work and without his income, they have no financial means of support.
Alicia is traveling multiple times a week from Madisonville to North Knoxville for appointments . Her transportation is in need of repairs to be dependable for her needs . Her housing situation needs attention to accommodate her needs in a safe and comfortable environment. Her adult children are accommodating her as much as they can but still falling short of what is needed .
If you are able to make a donation , please do so in order to support her needs and wishes as she faces a life changing situation. She is strong and faithful . She knows this is in God’s hands and wants to spend as much time with her family because she needs the mental and emotional support from the people she loves . She wants them to be with her because she knows that time is precious in times like this .
Thank you to all who have supported Alicia and continue to keep her in your prayers.

************************
Alicia Manis was recently diagnosed with non-small cell adenocarcinoma lung cancer. She is receiving radiation and chemotherapy because she is not a candidate for surgery or immunotherapy due to Crohn’s Disease/ Ulcerative Colitis. She is a 47-year-old mother, wife, and nana. Just before her diagnosis, she lost insurance coverage which has been detrimental to her health and well-being. Her family has limited income and living on the income of her husband.
Not only has she not been able to afford medications for prior illnesses, she is also facing paying out of pocket for her treatments. This diagnosis has caused emotional and financial distress. Alicia is unable to work due to the aggressive treatments she is receiving. She is facing financial hardship covering necessities such as rent, utilities, and groceries as well as her medical bills that are accumulating. To make matters worse, her air conditioning is broken making it hard to stay healthy in her time of crisis. I have set up this account for assistance with medical bills and necessities.
Alicia’s only wish is to beat cancer so she can watch her grandchildren become adults. If you can spare anything to assist her in her time of need, it would be greatly appreciated. If you cannot assist financially, please pray for this young lady to overcome this terrible illness. If you would like to make a donation outside of this platform, you may contact Sonya Thomas-Brown or Alicia Manis through direct messaging . Thank you again for your support.
