Please help Alicen Vera, LAVC's CalWORKs director, lay her son to rest. Her eldest son, Joe, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, October 16. Your contribution would mean a lot to her and her family.

As a CalWORKs team member for over 20 years, Alicen has relentlessly supported thousands of low-income student parents achieve economic self-sufficiency. Also, she was a key person to initiating LAVC's "Helping Hands Project." In fact, in 2021, Alicen was named Classified Employee of the Year by the California Community College's Board of Governors.
