My name is Sara Villaverde, and I’m reaching out with both a heavy and hopeful heart. This fundraiser is for Alice—a devoted young single mother, a pillar of kindness in our community, and someone who has given so much of herself to others. After surviving years of domestic violence, Alice made the brave decision to leave everything behind to protect her children. Though the choice was heartbreaking and terrifying, she chose safety, healing, and a future filled with hope.

Alice’s roots run deep here. With generations of family in Superior and the surrounding small towns, she has always embodied the spirit of community. Superior isn’t just where she's from—it’s where her heart is stays. It’s where her children are active in Ballet Folklorico, where she’s volunteered countless hours, where she’s cheered on the local teams, and where she’s shown up time and time again to support anyone in need. Alice and her kids are active members of this community, and their presence has always made Superior a better place.

For years, when other families in town faced difficult or life-changing circumstances, Alice was the first one to jump in—delivering meals, offering comfort, helping organize support, or simply being the steady hand someone could depend on. Her heart has always been open. She has always given, never expecting anything in return.

Now, unexpectedly and undeservedly, she is the one who needs help.

Leaving her home meant leaving most of their belongings behind. Alice and her children are starting over with almost nothing as they work toward rebuilding a safe, stable life. And while Alice is doing everything she can to provide for her kids, the weight of beginning again is overwhelming.

This is where we can come together—just as Alice has done for so many others—to lift her up.
