In early June, our mom got very unexpected medical news. After going in to her doctor for what she thought was bruising due to low iron or anemia, she was sent directly to the ER with very abnormal bloodwork. After many tests, she was diagnosed with APL- a very rare form of Leukemia. This was huge shock to all of us.

Her treatment required her to stay in the hospital for a month. Now she will now be receiving 8 months of additional outpatient treatment that will prevent her from working. She will not be able to work next school year as an elementary teacher at Minneapolis Public Schools due to regular clinic visits and a compromised immune system. This is a huge financial burden on our family.

Through this difficult time, we have so much gratitude towards our family, friends, and community. If you know our mom, you know her people are always her priority- we feel so lucky that she has created a community that loves her so much. She has tapped into her inner strength throughout this time and has a very difficult time asking for help. We’re looking to raise money to help pay for her medical bills.
