Support Alfred Olin's Battle Against Cancer

Alfred Olin, 49, known to many as Alfredo Loco, has been a key player in the small Bay Island community of Utila, Honduras. Born and raised an island boy, Alfred is one of the most charismatic and generous people you'll ever meet. If you have the privilege of knowing him, you've experienced his loud, infectious energy, heart of gold, and a willingness to help others at any moment.

Perhaps you knew him originally as Myers: the barefoot kid running the first bar in Utila and throwing parties on the old airport runway 30 years ago. Alfred is also an original founder of Sunjam, an annual techno music festival with international reach that ran for 19 years on Water Cay. He has always loved music and bringing people together.

Maybe you met him through scuba diving: he has trained over 3,000 people to date, starting a career at Paradise and Underwater Vision Dive shops before venturing on his own to run Parrots Dive Center for 15 years. Alfred loves to give back to his community and often taught local kids to become dive professionals for free.

Or maybe you got to see a different side to Alfred during the annual Thanksgiving fundraisers he sponsored, feeding the local elders and people in need of Utila. In short, Alfred has always been paving the way and turning the 'impossible' into the achievable.

While Alfred is a passionate man, he's also incredibly private about his personal life. For the last 2 years, Alfred has been battling carcinoma, a cancer that started in his throat.

The disease has challenged Alfred in ways he never imagined, making something as simple as eating (something we normally take for granted) a daily struggle. It has altered nearly every aspect of his life. Alfred is adjusting to the discomfort, but it hasn't been easy.

Cancer does that—it forces you to adapt, to redefine normal, and to find strength in places you never knew existed. And while this journey has been incredibly difficult, it has also shown him the immense power of community, love, and hope.

But the truth is this treatment has taken a heavy toll on Alfred, both mentally and physically. After enduring almost 2 years of cancer treatment—including months of grueling rounds of chemotherapy and radiation—the cancer has returned; and this time, Alfred needs your help.

Alfred is at a heartbreaking crossroads no one should have to endure, and he can't do it alone any longer without our help. With overwhelming medical expenses and with the dive shop closing, we are starting this fundraiser in the hopes to raise enough money for Alfred to regain his strength and start additional treatment. Currently, he is undergoing blood transfusions to increase blood components that are too low.

Alfred would never ask for donations personally, which is why we are reaching out for your help at this time. All funds raised will go directly to Alfred Olin for his medical and living expenses while in treatment.
