Support Alex's Urgent Liver Transplant Journey

Hello everyone,

First and foremost, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude for all the thoughts, prayers, and support that have been coming in for my brother, Alex. He has been facing a series of health challenges, and we aim to alleviate some of the physical and financial burdens he’s experiencing by starting this GoFundMe.

Earlier this fall, Alex had a severe reaction to bariatric surgery, which led to an acute stroke and subsequent liver damage. This situation escalated into hepatic encephalopathy, fatigue, and jaundice, prompting him to seek care at the university hospital to understand what was happening.

After undergoing numerous tests and procedures, doctors diagnosed him with an autoimmune condition that is attacking his liver. Unfortunately, there is no known cause—it's simply one of life's unpredictable challenges, with no genetic factors or lifestyle choices contributing to his condition.

Following consultations with various specialists, it became evident that this autoimmune issue can progress rapidly. Therefore, it is crucial for him to be placed on the liver transplant list as soon as possible, as a transplant is the only viable solution.

However, this situation has resulted in significant medical expenses that will create a financial burden for him and his wife. Alex would never ask for financial help on his own, but we, along with many others who have witnessed his relentless fight, feel compelled to create this page to support him during this challenging time.
