On January 22, 2024, the life of 15-year-old Alex took an unexpected and distressing turn when he was subjected to a brutal, random attack while heading home from school. After being repeatedly stabbed with a machete, Alex was rushed to the North York General Hospital and required an urgent surgery that same day. He had to be hospitalized for several days after suffering severe injuries, so we are grateful he is back at home now. Unfortunately, Alex will endure life-long trauma from this horrific incident, and currently, he is unable to walk without the use of a walker, which is exceptionally challenging for a 15-year-old boy.

As Alex’s older sister, I decided to start this GoFundMe fundraiser for my little brother since there will be a number of finances for Alex and our family, including physiotherapy and much-needed psychological help, especially considering that he often wakes up in the middle of the night due to nightmares. In a situation like this, the last thing we want is to be worried about finances. Even so, Alex continues to persevere and keeps demonstrating his strength to us. Although he still has a long road to recovery ahead of him, our family continues to stand by his side.
