Support Alex's Journey to a New Kidney
Donation protected
My son is 17 and in kidney failure. He was placed on the national transplant list last year and we have been patiently awaiting for a kidney.
We have been blessed with an opportunity by the Kiwanis club with this fundraiser they are hosting. They are donating all the proceeds from the benefit to my family to help with all the expenses we have and will have down the road. The medical expenses alone have been astronomical as Alex has been sick since he was an infant, with a disease called A-typical HUS
Atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome (aHUS) is a rare and potentially life-threatening disease that causes small blood clots to form in the body's small blood vessels. These clots can block blood flow to vital organs, particularly the kidneys, which can lead to kidney damage and failure. aHUS is a type of thrombotic microangiopathy (TMA) that affects multiple organs, especially the kidneys. It's often caused by a genetic mutation that impacts the immune system
A little info about Alex:
Alex is a junior at Hinsdale Central. He absolutely loves school, he is in honors classes. He has never let his disease take away his passion for learning. He is passionate about agriculture, and hopes to become a chef one day. He has an older sister, and a younger sister and brother.
The in person breakfast benefit is next Saturday
For anyone unable to attend they are accepting check donations, and we are including this to fund me link for anyone who would like to donate electronically
If there are any additional questions feel free to reach out to Lavonne Campbell at [phone redacted]
Also feel free to share as we are hoping for a successful turnout
Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
Truly I can’t begin to express my gratitude on how grateful we are for this amazing opportunity my family has been given. It’s been a long rough journey.
We don’t take anything for granted.
