Support Alex's Fight Against Stage 4 Ewing Sarcoma
Donation protected
Hi, this GoFundMe is for Alex Mitev to help him fight his battle with stage 4 Ewing Sarcoma. Alex was diagnosed with cancer at 18 years old after several months of a mysterious pain and lump forming in his right side. After rigorous testing and scans, many doctors visits, and one cycle of chemo, it was confirmed that Alex had metastatic Ewing Sarcoma, meaning the cancer had spread throughout his body, making it Stage 4. Ewing Sarcoma is a rare form of cancer that mostly appears in younger people, it attacks the bones and soft/connective tissues (muscles, ligaments, and tendons). Ewing Sarcoma is susceptible to chemotherapy, therefore, Alex will be undergoing 12 weeks of chemo during the induction phase before moving onto 16 weeks of radiation therapy and further chemotherapy. Any support is greatly appreciated as it will help Alex during his fight with cancer by aiding with medical bills and general life expenses due to Alex being unable to work during his treatments.

Here is his story:
Hi, my name is Alex Mitev. Roughly 8 months ago, my right side would randomly cause me a lot of pain. At the time, I had thought it was muscle pain. Fast forward 5 months, my girlfriend, Emma, discovered a lump where I was feeling the pain. I brought this to the attention of my parents, who then quickly set up an appointment with our family doctor. I went in for a checkup, and she recommended I get an ultrasound. Unfortunately, the ultrasound could not see what was wrong. Then, on New Year's day, I woke up in the middle of the night in excruciating pain in my side and had to be driven to the ER. After the ER, I went to get a CT scan with contrast. When the results of the CT scan came back, my father and mother received a call from the doctors with bad news. My dad drove over to my house and sat me down to tell me that I had cancer. However, the doctors were still unsure of what type of cancer I had. I went to an oncologist who told me he believed I had Sarcoma. I then met with an orthopedic surgeon who confirmed that it was Sarcoma, however, he did not know what type it was. After going through weeks of testing including a biopsy and insertion of a port into the right side of my chest, whilst being in a lot of pain, I was finally able to meet with a pediatric oncologist at Levine Children's Hospital. The pediatric oncologist went over the PET scan with us, showing all the places where my cancer had spread including where the original tumor is located. The tumor is on my 11th rib, and the cancer has spread to my femurs, pelvis, a few spots in my shoulders, and on the lining of my right lung. We were still waiting for the results from the biopsy, as that would confirm once and for all what type of sarcoma I had. My doctor decided to give me my first cycle of chemo since he was 98% sure it was Ewing Sarcoma. I was in the hospital for 4 days, and responded positively to the chemo. My doctor then informed me that I indeed had Stage 4 Ewing Sarcoma. I am going to undergo 12 weeks of chemotherapy, then have scans done to see where my progress is at, then go through 16 weeks of radiation therapy, and chemotherapy, although it may take longer. I would greatly appreciate any kind of support I can get to help pay for my treatments and living expenses, as I am unfit to work in my current condition. Thank you so much for reading and supporting me.
