Help Alex fight kidney disease and get a new chance at life.
Hi my name is Marissa, and I am reaching out on behalf of my incredible 9-year-okd son, Alex.
Alex was diagnosed with Nephrotic Syndrome when he was just 4 years old. Since then, our world has revolved around hospital visits, medications, and surgeries. For years, we held on to hope that he would grow out of it but in January, our lives were turned upside down when doctors told us that Alex’s kidneys were failing. He was diagnosed with end-stage renal disease and had to be placed on dialysis immediately.
Alex has had to stop attending school in person due to his high risk of infections. He’s homeschooled now, which adds another layer of pressure to our already full plates. I've had to cut back on work significantly to care for him, manage his dialysis, attend appointments, and advocate for his health. This journey has impacted every aspect of our lives emotionally, physically, and financially.
There are days we’re just trying to get through the next hour. Watching your child suffer and not being able to take the pain away is something no parent should ever experience. Still, Alex remains incredibly brave and positive he dreams about playing soccer again, riding his bike, and just being a kid.
A kidney transplant is the only path to long-term health and freedom for Alex. But even with insurance, the medical costs, travel expenses, and recovery needs are overwhelming. Post-transplant care is lifelong. We're fundraising to help cover:
Lost income from time off work to care for Alex
Emergency funds for complications or unexpected emergencies.
Despite everything, Alex still laughs, dreams, and plans for the future. He loves drawing, building LEGO sets, and watching funny YouTube videos. He tells us almost daily, “When I get my new kidney, I’m going to run faster than anyone!”
We believe in that future and we’re asking for your help to get us there.
Any amount you can donate will bring us one step closer to giving Alex the healthy life he deserves. If you can’t give financially, please share his story. Your support, prayers, and love mean more than words can say.
With gratitude,
Marissa and Family
