My name is Jessica Hartley, on May 25th of this year my sister Alexis Mackay was involved in a motorcycle accident that nearly took her life. Alexis and her boyfriend were both life-flighted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. For nearly 2 weeks we held our breath waiting for Alexis to survive her serious injuries and come out of her coma. Thankfully she eventually did wake up. Her injuries have been life altering and will include hours upon hours of physical and occupational therapy sessions. Alexis does have some medical insurance, but it will not cover all of the expenses that she has already accrued, and the medical supplies she will need for her home. This will include things like a wheelchair, shower stool, and knee brace. The goal is to get her home as soon as possible and give her the equipment she needs to succeed in her therapies and recovery. My family and I are so very grateful for the medical team at Harbor view and the progress that Alexis is making, but it will still be a very long road until she is back to "normal".
