I recently underwent a 360 spinal fusion surgery four weeks ago.
I have a rare genetic condition called Neurofibromatosis Type 2 (NF2) that causes tumors on my brain, spinal cord, and any nerve on my body. It's an ongoing battle that will continue for many years that will include more chemo, radiation, and likely more surgeries.
This was a major operation, my twelfth over 8 years and second high-risk major surgery in just 26 months. This recovery has been both physically and emotionally exhausting in unprecedented ways. I’m used to being on my feet and working hard for a living, but my medical team has informed me that I won’t be able to return to work for at least 12 weeks post-op.
Unfortunately, I do not receive paid time off, short-term disability, or paid medical leave, which has made this period especially challenging. During my recovery, I am facing mounting expenses that I am struggling to manage on my own. The funds raised through this campaign will go directly toward help covering rent, medical bills, transportation to and from appointments, food, and utilities. Every bit of support will allow me to focus on healing without the constant worry of how I’ll keep up with these essential costs.
I’ve always found it difficult to ask for help—not out of pride, but because I never want to burden anyone. There is a part of me that wants to appear strong and capable, but I’ve learned that no one can help if they don’t know the struggle. I’ve fought through so much already and will continue to do so, but right now, I need a little help to keep this battle going.
I also want to thank my friends and family who have already helped by providing food and helping with necessary medical items on Amazon. If you’re able to support me, I would be deeply grateful for your kindness and generosity.
