9 year-old Alexia is currently at Stanford Medical Center in CA preparing for brain surgery. While we are hopeful and fully expect a successful recovery, this is a frightening and overwhelming time for her and her family. Alexia is a fun-loving little girl with the biggest smile. She loves playing softball, cheering on the New York Yankees (even though she’s a California girl!), and bringing laughter to everyone around her. She has already overcome so much in her young life. She was born with Goldenhar syndrome, has unilateral microtia and atresia, along with chiari malformation. Alexia also has a single kidney and several fused spinal bones. Her Dad, Steven, my brother, has been by her side every step of the way.
As Alexia undergoes brain surgery and begins her recovery, Steven must take time off work to remain with her at the hospital. While he stays close to his daughter, he is responsible for all out-of-pocket expenses, including meals, lodging, daily living costs, travel and the mounting medical bills that will continue long after this surgery is complete. We are asking for support to help ease the financial burden during this critical time. Any remaining funds will be placed into an account dedicated to Alexia’s future medical needs, as ongoing care is expected throughout her life. Our goal is to allow Steven, to focus on what matters most — being present for his daughter as she heals — without the added weight of financial stress. If you are able to give, share, and keep Alexia in your thoughts and prayers, it would mean more than words can express. Thank you for helping this brave little girl and her devoted father through this journey. Love and thank you, The Ramirez Family
