Thank you for taking the time to read this. My name is Alexa Muñoz. I’m a semi-retired teacher who’s been on five year long medical leave. I live with a host of chronic illnesses that have made full time work just about impossible. I have scleroderma, lupus, and am a kidney transplant recipient. As you might imagine, living in the age of covid-19 has made my life much harder. Just this year alone, I contracted covid and RSV; I was recently diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension, which has required me to receive oxygen therapy. I’ve been hospitalized 6 times this calendar year. My last bout with covid put me in the ICU and completely shut my lungs down.

Because of all of my health needs, I have not been able to work in any way. I am 3 months behind on my rent ($1584 per month). I have received a warning about eviction court. I have to do something right now to save my home.

While I recover, I cannot work any of my gigs, nor can I even imagine going back to teaching part time. I need to pay my living expenses in order to recover properly. So, I am asking for $7500 to cover my rent and give me a small cushion of money to handle incidentals. My weekly living expenses include grocery delivery, transport to and from medical appointments, and laundry service. It’s very isolating to be so sick that I can’t spend time doing the things I love. It would change my life for the better to raise these funds with the love and care of all of you.
