Hi! I’m Gabby, and I’ve known Alexa for a long time now; through grade school to adulthood. And in all that time, I’ve learned many things about her. For the sake of brevity, let’s keep it limited to 3.
- Alexa is as much business in the front as she is party in the back. She’s the first one organizing things for the next hangout, and she’s the one laughing loudest at the center of the room. She’s at any event she can be to support those she loves, and she cheers for us louder than we do for ourselves.
- Alexa is extremely thoughtful. Her structured mind remembers birthdays, anniversaries, friends’ favorite things — only to use pull it out at the most effective time. Alexa embodies the idea of “to be known is to be loved”.
- Alexa doesn’t ask for help. She is an independent, strong willed, intelligent person who can excel on her own because she’s that good at everything she does. She will argue with you about this, but if you know her, you know.
Recently we all learned something new about Alexa. She has stage 2 triple negative breast cancer. It came in with the new year, and brings a type of challenge no one wants to rise to the occasion for.
But Alexa will, and she’ll do it with a smile and a joke, ‘cause that’s who she is.
So I’m asking for anyone that’s ever been made to feel special by Alexa to please donate what you can to chip in for her cancer care. The battle is hard enough, and any relief of the monetary variety that comes with the diagnosis is a gift. I’d rather Alexa focus on kicking cancer’s ass rather than dealing with insurance and medical bills.
I know it’s a hard time for all of us, so even a share helps. I’d love to make Alexa feel as cared for as she makes everyone around her feel. All funds raised from this will go straight to her.
