Bella here, and I’m writing this because the person I love is the kind of person who shows up for everyone else, even when their own cup is empty.

My partner, Alexandria LaRue, is a Black, queer, trans community activist who uses they/them pronouns. They are newly sober, differently abled, and deeply committed to building safer, more loving worlds for people who are often forgotten. They give rides, hold space, organize, advocate, and care — even while navigating systems that make survival unnecessarily hard.

Right now, the weight of that reality has caught up with them.

In just a few months, a cascade of setbacks — car repossession, recovery fees, an accident, and towing costs — has pushed Alexandria into housing and medical precarity. None of this is about irresponsibility. It’s about how fast stability can disappear when you’re disabled, Black, trans, and trying to heal in a country that offers very little margin for error.

This year, Alexandria chose life. They got sober. They committed to their mental health. They rebuilt community. And now, at one of the most vulnerable moments of that journey, they need help staying housed and accessing medication that is essential — not optional — for their health and safety.

Asking for help is not easy for them. Writing this took courage. Sharing it takes trust.

In the past 3 months, my car was repossessed - then I got it back for $1800, then I got into my very first accident and it was towed - then I got it back $650, and it’s put me behind on rent 3 months ($2535). I’ve reapplied for disability but as you know that takes 9 months minimum, though I was approved in the past, it will still take almost a year. I have medicine insecurity, I require a medication to help my IIH that I’m supposed to take every 4-5 hours. Transparently I’ve been without it for a little over a month causing severe migraines and blurry vision.

I need help to stay housed and thankfully have a landlord who is willing to work with me for the month of November. I’m asking for

- $100 medicine (2 months worth)

- $1690 to cover two months of rent

This will help me until additional funds kick in and would be life saving at this juncture.

This year I got sober, worked on my mental health at MHMR, and started building healthy community again.
