My sweet nephew, Alexander, is facing one of the biggest challenges of his young life. He has a genetic heart anomaly called cardiomyopathy, a condition where the heart tissue becomes abnormally thick, making it harder for his heart to pump blood. After he experienced cardiac arrest while on the playground at school on Wednesday, his doctors determined that he will need open-heart surgery this week to help protect his health and future.

This is an overwhelming time for Laura and David as they put everything aside to be by Alexander’s side in the hospital. We want them to focus fully on supporting and loving Alexander through his surgery and recovery, without the heavy burden of financial stress.

Alexander is such a bright light in our family and we believe in the strength of prayer, community and love to carry him through this. Any gift, no matter the size, is a blessing and will ease this difficult journey. Prayers for Alexander’s healing and strength for his family are so appreciated. We have already witnessed the power of offered Masses, holy hours and prayers these past few days.
