On January 21, 2026, my 17-year-old son, Alexander, went into DKA and had a cardiac episode. Since then, he has been fighting a brain injury that has put him into a fight for his life. He is intubated and sedated to let his brain heal. He has been going through something called a neurostorm, which means that he has blood pressures that go either too high or too low. He has a rapid heart rate, sweating, and he tenses up when he has too much stimulus. Right now, he is stable but in critical condition in the PICU at Children's Hospital in Milwaukee.
I had to take time off of work to be up in the hospital to be with him. Many people have reached out asking how they can help. Right now, the most immediate needs are for everyday expenses that come with staying in the hospital: meals, gas for trips back and forth, lost income from time off work, and medical and therapy bills. Please continue to keep Alexander in your thoughts and prayers.
Alex has gain his wings today Wednesday February 11, 2026.
