Alexander's Great Fight to Raise Awareness About Kleefstra

Donation protected
Family, Friends, and Open Community,

Thank you for being here. When we first shared our story about having a child with Kleefstra syndrome, we were overwhelmed, scared, and navigating a reality we never expected. Today, as we update this GoFundMe, the hardest part of this journey to date seems to have passed and we are feeling more gratitude than ever for God's plan for our family, have greater perspective, and renewed purpose.

Since launching this fundraiser, over $18,000 has been donated toward our vision and our now expanded $50,000 goal.

Your generosity made it possible for us to keep our home, pay bills when we had to pause work for 6 months, and be fully present with Alexander through 6 months of hospital stays at a total of 3 different hospitals, countless specialist appointments, and life-changing decisions. Medicaid has stepped in to support many of Alexander’s medical needs, and we are incredibly grateful. Your support bridged the gap when we needed it most.

If you are new to following our journey...Alexander was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder called Kleefstra syndrome that affects less than 1000 people in the US. This syndrome is significantly affecting his immediate quality of life & has the potential to impact his long term well being in a multitude of ways that remain unknown until the issues present themselves through time.

Alexander’s Medical Update

In the past year, Alexander has overcome more than most adults ever will and did so like a champion:

Open heart surgery to repair a moderate sized hole.

Clubfoot corrected through casting and surgery.

Tracheopexy surgery strengthened his airway and he no longer needs daytime oxygen.

Pulmonary Hypertension that got him readmitted another 3 months.

Ear tubes placed, though mild hearing loss remains, he’ll soon be fitted for hearing aids.

Adenoids and tonsils removed, significantly improving sleep apnea and we are hoping he doesn't require oxygen while sleeping soon.

Multiple emergency room visits.

He continues to make slow but meaningful gains, and we celebrate every inch forward.

Alexander still shows severe developmental delays, and this next chapter is focused on giving him every tool to reach his milestones.

What We Are Raising Funds For Now

Our current immediate need is $6,000 to cover a specialized therapy program that is not covered by insurance, but has been life-changing for children with neurological disorders.
You can learn more about the program here: Atlanta Chiropractic and Neurology

We believe this intervention will help Alexander develop strength, motor control, communication, and independence. What takes years of therapy to achieve, new scientific advancements at this clinic are seeing results in weeks.

How Funds Will Continue to Be Used

We remain committed to the original mission, and as we grow, we are expanding that vision:

A portion of donations will go toward research foundations dedicated to Kleefstra Syndrome, such as IDefine.

A third of funds are still set aside to support families affected by Kleefstra Syndrome, as well as families with special needs children. Through grants we aim to purchase specialized equipment (like the lasers used at the clinic) and give free access to special needs children at our building that holds both our businesses, Agape House.

We will funnel funds, time, and energy into Agape House so that it is a hub for healing and community, with particular consideration toward special needs families.

Creating Something That Gives Back

Danielle is currently writing a children’s book about Alexander’s journey.
The plan is for new donors to receive a copy in 2026, and all proceeds from the book will go toward his future treatment and support for other families.

Alexander’s story is not only one of medical complexity, it is a story of hope, surrender, determination, and purpose.
