Sam and Alex Kozachuk are one of those couples that you meet, and immediately think to yourself, “they are perfect for each other.” Alex met Sam during their first year of college at the University of Pittsburgh. For the last 10 years, they have been inseparable. They are best friends and light up every room they are in.

We were lucky to meet them during pharmacy school at the University of Pittsburgh, where they quickly became close friends of ours. Sam and Alex moved to Raleigh, North Carolina after Sam graduated from pharmacy school. They got married and started the rest of their lives together, building a foundation.
About 1 month ago, everything changed. Alex was hospitalized after suffering from a severe stroke. He remained in the ICU for 2 weeks fighting for his life.

Alex had recently been diagnosed with cancer and underwent chemotherapy. Chemotherapy was started in June and while it was very tough at times, it seemed to be going well. He was on his last round of chemotherapy when he was found unresponsive in their apartment. At 29 years old, Alex suffered a severe stroke.
The stroke caused speech aphasia and immobility on his right side. It has been a very tough process but he is slowly improving every day. Alex will endure a long road to recovery in which he and his family will need any help possible.
Currently, Alex is at an inpatient rehab facility in Philadelphia working to regain some function on the right side of his body. He is also undergoing speech and occupational therapy daily, with hopes of independently completing everyday tasks again. Sam flies back and forth from Philadelphia to Raleigh in order to continue working. We are asking for your help to fund these therapy expenses. Alex will need to continue his occupational, speech and physical therapies in an outpatient setting.

Alex and Sam are an amazing couple with a passion for helping people. Both Alex and Sam work in pharmacies where they make positive impacts on patients every day. Alex has made a huge impact on his patients. His pharmacy has received endless comments on how friendly and caring he is and how he goes the extra mile to make sure the patient is taken care of. Alex is one of the most kind and happiest people we have ever met. We hope to provide him and his family with even the smallest donation.
The funds will be used to help pay for his inpatient and outpatient rehab medical expenses. Any amount you can donate will go a long way towards helping a family in need. If you cannot afford to donate please consider praying for Alex as he continues to grow stronger every day.
** The money raised will be given directly to Alex and Sam Kozachuk*
