Help Bring Alex Ryan Home – A Family Man Who’s Always Been There for Others

My name is Karina Leveque, and I’m starting this GoFundMe on behalf of the Ryan family during one of the hardest moments of their lives.

Alex Ryan is more than a husband, father, grandfather, and friend — he is the kind of man who has always shown up for everyone around him. Whether by blood or by heart, Alex has a way of making people feel like family. I know this personally. Though my brother Adam Ryan and I have different dads, Alex and the entire Ryan family lots of Ryan’s names not mentioned but never forgotten— Marc, Matty, Ali, and Judy — have always made me feel like I was family That’s just who they are.

Alex grew up in Squamish, British Columbia, where he built a life rooted in hard work, integrity, and community. He owned and operated logging companies, dedicating his life to providing for his family and helping anyone he could along the way. If someone needed a hand, Alex never hesitated. He gave quietly, generously, and without expectation.

Years later, Alex and his wife Judy made the brave decision to move to Australia with their children — Adam, Marc, Matty, and Ali — to begin a new chapter and pursue new opportunities together as a family. It was never about ease or comfort; it was about building a better future for those he loved.

While traveling overseas for work, Alex suffered a massive stroke. In a single moment, everything changed.

Alex is currently still hospitalized overseas, facing a long and uncertain road to recovery. He cannot return to work in the foreseeable future, and the medical bills continue to grow. Most urgently, he needs to be medically transported back to Australia, where he can begin proper rehabilitation surrounded by his family, his support system, and the doctors who will help guide his recovery.

Marc and Ali have already flown overseas to be by Alex’s side — to advocate for him, comfort him, and help bring their dad home. Judy, his wife and partner in everything, is facing the unimaginable: watching the man she loves fight to heal while managing the weight of medical decisions, finances, and fear for the future.

Alex is a proud grandfather to four beautiful grandchildren who need their grandpa for many years to come. They need his stories, his laughter, his guidance, and his love. His children need their dad. Judy needs her husband. And this family needs help.

We are asking for support not because it’s easy, but because it’s necessary.
