Support Alex Dunstan's Heart Surgery Recovery
Donation protected
Alex Dunstan recently found out that he will have to have open heart surgery this coming September. He was born with a bicuspid aortic valve instead of a tricuspid valve which has accumulated calcium or stenosis on the valve. This stenosis has created an aneurysm in his ascending aorta which is a thinning of the vessel wall causing the vessel to balloon out. The only way to fix this is to replace the valve with a mechanical valve and replace the ascending aorta with a synthetic material through open heart surgery.
In addition to the medical expenses he will incur, Alex will also be out of work and on bedrest for 3 months following the surgery, plus an extensive road to recovery afterwards.
Alex is one of the hardest working individuals we know. He would literally give a stranger the shirt off his back if they needed it. This is an extremely scary and difficult time for him, his wife Brittany, and their young daughter Piper as they navigate a major life-altering situation.
One of the things we love most about living in Ocean City is how much our community comes together to help those when they need it most. We will be throwing a fundraiser for Alex on Sunday September 1st from 2-6pm on the Shore Deck at Ashore Resort and Beach Club. Thanks to Jimmy Pavlik and the amazing team at Ashore, we will be able to donate 100% of ticket sale proceeds to the fundraiser to Alex's family. We know that there are people all over that love Alex and may not be able to make the event so we decided to create a GoFundMe so those that are unable to attend still will have the opportunity to contribute.
