Our son Alex Carlos died on December 15, 2024. He was 31 years old. A young man with a promising future.
We are raising money to provide scholarships and fund ongoing events in his name.
Alex loved his family and friends with all of his big heart. To his nephews and nieces, he was Uncle Allie. To his closest friends, Lex Los. To others, he was just plain Alex. You could count on him to show up at events and make them laugh until they cried. He was a hugger. He always embraced, kissed, and fist-bumped everyone in the room before he left. And that beautiful, natural smile. Perfect.
Most of us knew him for his culinary skills in the kitchen. He shared his deep love for others with food. Some relatives and friends hired him to cook Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. At home, his mother and father were his sous chefs.
Alex was a Mama’s boy. He called her his Madre. He brought her favorite flowers when she was down, he prepared her favorite chicken dishes when she was tired and hungry, and he loved her with all of his being.
He was also a film aficionado. He could recite whole scenes from his favorite films, Goodfellas and Casablanca. He had a perfect movie quote for every occasion.
And he loved...loved his big brother, his beautiful sisters, his gentle giant of brother-in-law, his loving aunts and uncles, his lovely girlfriend and her daughter Elara, his Fine Nine compadres, his many nephews and nieces, his gaggle of cousins, and all pets, but especially his dogs Brittany and Meeko. He loved to help others and asked for little in return.
He donated his organs to help over seventy others see, live, heal, and feel better. That was Alex. He was an EMT, and he was studying to be a Paramedic and Fireman.
He will be missed.
