Support Alex and his family while he heals

on July 27th our childhood friend and husband to my cousin madison, Alex was admitted to the hospital. 2 days prior Alex had started having double vision, he was dizzy, had a loss of hearing in one ear the symptoms continued and he woke up on July 27th puking and unable to hold down any liquids. It quickly progressed to not being able to walk or stand. By the time he got to the hospital he was incoherent and unable to stay awake. His brain was shutting down. After multiple tests, scans and procedures, Alex was diagnosed with viral encephalitis (inflammation of the brain) they have not been able to give him a full diagnosis because in all honesty the team of doctors were completely dumbfounded by all his symptoms. Alex is now able to stay awake for short periods of time but still unable to walk and not very coherent.

Alex is an amazing father and a very present partner and madison now left to do this all on her own with little help since moving to Missouri away from her family. Alex has a long road ahead of him, his healing may take months and he will be out of work while he heals and sees specialists and possibly physical therapists. I would love to take one stress off of their family during this time so madison can be present with her children and caring for Alex.
