On July 28th, life took a dramatic turn for Alex Alas when he experienced a Hemorrhagic Stroke during what was supposed to be a regular swim. I still can’t wrap my head around how a man so fit could suddenly be struck down in such a way. The impact on him, and all of us who love him, has been profound.
Upon arriving at the hospital, we were met with the terrifying news of paralysis on his right side and difficulty in speaking. Yet, even in this dark time, Alex has shown incredible spirit. He’s known for his quick wit, deep love for art and literature, and unwavering commitment to helping veterans.
At California Rehabilitation Institute Hospital, the dedicated team has been amazed by his resilience; he’s already making progress! But let’s not kid ourselves—there’s still a mountain to climb.
With Alex no longer able to fulfill his role as my caregiver, the emotional and financial strain on our family has increased significantly. His recovery will require 24/7 care and extensive therapy—services our insurance won’t cover. We’re reaching out for your support. Your contributions will be instrumental in ensuring Alex gets the care he needs.
Together, we can rally around him in this fight, providing him with the strength to overcome these challenges. Thank you for being part of this journey with us.
