This money will help pay for a legal retainer for Aleshia Rogers, a single mother who is trying to get full custody of her three children so that she can enroll them in a stable school environment. Her Ex husband lives out of state, so legal aide cannot help her but referred her to another lawyer who can help. The other lawyer requires a retainer that Aleshia cannot afford on her own. Here is her story, in her own words...
"Three years ago, I was struck by Steven Johnson Syndrome, a severe and rare condition that left me battling intense physical pain and emotional trauma. Since then, my life has been a series of trials that have tested my strength and resilience.
I went through a painful divorce with the father of my children. He was supposed to be my caretaker during my illness, but instead, he failed to support me and has neglected to provide any financial assistance for our children. While we share custody every three weeks and thus no child support is required, his lack of contribution and support has left me struggling to manage everything on my own.
Adding to this immense struggle, I endured the devastating loss of both my brother and sister, who both tragically took their own lives within the same year. Their deaths have left an irreplaceable void in my life and compounded the emotional strain I am facing.
To make matters even more challenging, my ex-husband and I live over 700 miles apart. This long-distance arrangement complicates the logistics of managing our children's needs and means I am constantly juggling responsibilities alone. I have no family in the area to rely on for support, which makes this situation even more daunting.
I am working a full-time job while also striving to advocate for my children and their future. My middle child, Mason, has special needs and requires a stable and supportive educational environment. Unfortunately, Mason’s father has been obstructive and selfish, refusing to allow him to attend school. This situation is putting me at risk of intervention from the Department of Children and Families, as I struggle to ensure that all three of my children receive the education and care they need.
I need your support to hire a lawyer who can help me fight for my children's right to a proper education and a fair opportunity for their future. Your generous donations will make a significant difference in my ability to provide a safe and nurturing environment for my children, covering legal costs, school fees for Mason, and everyday living expenses that I’m struggling to meet."
Please donate to help her make her children's lives better and more stable. Any amount helps. Thank you.
