Support Ale's Miraculous Recovery Journey

Hi friends. My name is Brett Byers and we are raising money to help us with all of the expenses associated with my wife Ale’s (Claudia Alejandra) medical issues. As many of you know, Ale was admitted to the hospital for spreading neuropathy that they thought was GBS in December. Neurologists are torn but now believe it to be something else yet to be identified. She was transferred to a rehabilitation hospital and upon arriving there, she was not able to walk or stand. This rapidly evolved overnight into major brain swelling that caused multiple seizures and breathing halted, and resuscitation was needed on multiple occasions, including in the ambulance on the way to the ER at Mercy Hospital. They did the same thing again while in the ER at Mercy and she was moved to the ICU. In the ICU, they sedated her and applied an arctic blast treatment that lowered her body temperature to 95° to preserve brain function. The doctor told me “I’m so very sorry” and that she was unlikely to wake up. He told me that the swelling and bleeding on her brain was similar to the damage of someone falling from a one story building or a major car wreck. Miraculously and only by the movement of God, the next day the CT scan showed a huge improvement in the swelling. They kept the treatment and the sedation going for another 24 hours and on the second day the CT scan, through only a miracle through God‘s hands, showed no swelling. They slowly reversed the sedation and the temperature cooling and Ale finally woke up. We prayed and prayed that she would not have any permanent brain damage when she woke up and our prayers were answered! She was then moved up to the step-down ICU. She was then moved to Mercy rehab. A friend had a great suggestion for us to set this Go Fund Me up to help with all of the bills and expenses that are piling up. She has had countless tests, from CT scans to MRIs. She has received world-class care with world-class equipment which we are so thankful to God for; however, we are suffering under all of the heavy weight of medical bills and just day to day expenses from getting her back and forth to rehab and to all of her drs appts continuing to come in as a result from all of this. She fell 5/12 and began seizing again and had to be taken by ambulance back to the ER. Thankfully, all of the test came back OK and showed that there was no brain swelling this time.Prayers are the most important help we could ever receive, so if you can’t help financially, please know that your prayers are vastly more important than any other way you could help.
