Hi, my name is Alejandro Ramirez and I am 28 years old living in Cali, Colombia.
Two months ago, the rush of skateboarding, playing guitar and hiking rivers defined my life. As a cybersecurity engineer, I thrived on solving puzzles—but nothing prepared me for the puzzle of surviving a motorcycle accident that shattered my T6-T7 vertebrae and left me paraplegic.
I am racing against time: Neuroplasticity peaks within 6-12 months post-injury. Every dollar brings me closer to a miracle of being able to recover whatever movement I can but I still dream to be able to move freely again; to use my skateboard, go on walks with my girlfriend, ride my bike or hike like I used to love to do.
My aunt Monica Fey is fundraising to cover the extensive medical expenses and rehabilitation costs that have come with this life-altering event. This is her message:
“Hello friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers,
My name is Monica Fey, and I’m reaching out with love and urgency to ask for your help. I am organizing this fundraiser for my nephew who lives in Cali, Colombia. He is currently facing a difficult situation after a motorcycle accident left him paralyzed from the waist down. This fundraiser is for a stem cell treatment that can bring him a possibility of regaining movement in his legs.
Since GoFundMe is not available directly in Colombia, I (as a U.S. citizen) will be receiving the funds personally in my bank account and transferring 100% of the donations to him in Colombia. I will ensure that every contribution goes directly toward [medical care / basic needs / etc.].
We are incredibly grateful for any support you can offer — whether it’s a donation, sharing this campaign, or sending positive thoughts our way. No amount is too small, and every gesture of support means the world to us.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for being a part of our extended community.”
Any support given is greatly appreciated and could make my dream of having a normal life again a reality.
