On Saturday night, our beloved friend and co-worker, Aldo Lugo-Damian, was heading home from work on his bike when, just before 11 PM, he was struck and ran over by a driver who didn’t stop to check on him. He was left on the street for almost an hour until he was found by people driving by who noticed him and immediately called 911. He was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. He had to undergo surgery right away to stop his internal bleeding. The following day, while still sedated, it was determined that he had suffered a broken left ankle, broken left and right femur, broken hip, fractured pelvis, and also a ruptured kidney, along with lots of scrapes to his face and body. After a successful 3-hour surgery, the doctor said that his road to recovery will be a long one. Aldo is here in Florida alone, with his immediate family still in Mexico. Myself and the rest of the team are making this GoFundMe to help relieve Aldo from the financial burden he will face on his road to recovery and to help get his grandmother here to help him on his recovery, which will not be an easy one!
