Hello, my name is Grace Alcorn. I’m 20 years old and was born and raised in the Coachella Valley. I’m creating this fundraiser to help support my dad, Jerry Alcorn, and our family business, Alcorn Adaptive Bike & Mobility Shop, after a heartbreaking break-in and robbery that happened on Tuesday, May 5th at our shop in Palm Springs.

My dad has spent nearly the last 10 years building this business from the ground up through nonstop hard work, determination, and passion. What many people don’t know is that my dad is a walking paraplegic. After a devastating construction accident in 2014 left him paralyzed, doctors told him what his life would look like and the things he would never do again. Instead of giving up, he fought through years of recovery and rebuilt his life. Today, he has dedicated his business to helping others regain mobility, independence, and confidence through adaptive bikes, mobility equipment, and repairs for people of all abilities.

Our shop is more than just a business to us — it’s our livelihood, our home, and a place where people in our community come for support and help. My dad has always been the kind of person who goes out of his way to help anyone who walks through the door, and seeing someone violate the place he worked so hard to build has been devastating for our family.

I currently work at the shop as well, and during the slower summer season, this business is what keeps our family going financially. The losses from this robbery have put a huge strain on us during an already difficult time. I’m asking for help so we can continue keeping the shop open, recover from the damages and losses, and continue serving the community that has supported us for so many years.
